Omaha, Neb. -- Omaha Public Schools Board Member Tony Vargas has announced that he has raised more than $34,000 in his campaign for legislature in district 7.
The year end filings for the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission (NADC) show that Vargas raised a total of $34,495 from more than 200 donors since announcing his campaign last October.

“I am incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support of small businesses, faith leaders, community organizers, hardworking families, and Omaha voters, and for their investment in my campaign,” said Vargas. “I’m ready to keep working hard for my neighbors in downtown and South Omaha as their representative in the legislature.”
Vargas is a bilingual Peruvian-American, first generation college student, and former public school teacher. He now works for a non-profit in national education policy, striving to improve the quality of education for thousands of children across the country. Vargas has represented subdistrict 9 on the OPS Board of Education for two and a half years, since his appointment by the board in September 2013.
